Aroor Rao

Aroor Rao, MD, FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist. He works with the Capitol Cardiology Associates team in Camp Springs, Lanham, and Bowie, Maryland. 

Originally from India, Dr. Rao earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (equivalent to a doctoral degree) from the Mysore Medical College And Research Institute in Mysore, India, in 1969. In 1971, he moved to the United States to finish his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship. 

Dr. Rao is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and nuclear cardiology. After years of serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area at eight local hospitals, Dr. Rao established himself as an integral part of Luminis Health Doctors Community Hospital. 

In 1987, he served as chief of cardiology and later became co-director of Cath Lab in 1990. Because of his dedication to quality patient care, he co-founded Capitol Cardiology Associates in 1991, where he continues his commitment to providing the highest standard of cardiovascular care. 

Dr. Rao is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
